Clinicians, researchers, and students from medical device manufacturers, academic research labs, and operating rooms across the country and around the world belong to SFB. This interdisciplinary gathering is a critical pathway to identifying issues with current technologies, and for translating academic research to clinical practice.

2028 World Biomaterials Congress
Help shape the future of biomaterials on a global stage. The Call for Ideas is now open for the 2028 World Biomaterials Congress (WBC 2028), taking place April 24–29, 2028, in Washington, DC.
Under the theme "Navigating Global Biomaterials Innovation," WBC 2028 will bring together thousands of scientists, engineers, clinicians, industry leaders, entrepreneurs, and students from around the world. We invite you to help build a bold, forward-thinking scientific program by submitting ideas for sessions, symposia, workshops, panel discussions, and other educational opportunities that showcase the latest advances shaping our field.

2026 Q1 Biomaterial Forum is Available Now!
This edition of the Forum features the 2026 officer candidates for President-Elect and Member-at-Large and celebrates SFB's 2026 award recipients. Technical features explore the 60-year evolution of biomaterials at the University of Illinois Chicago, focusing on real-time atomic-scale imaging, and Stony Brook University’s development of engineered organoid models for Alzheimer’s and skeletal diseases. The issue also provides critical updates on the lapse of SBIR/STTR reauthorization, the National Institutes of Health’s new framework for international research collaborations, and the 35th anniversary of AIMBE.
