The Orthopaedic Biomaterial Special Interest Group met on Friday, May 22, 2026, to feature four wonderful talks from the Ortho SIG's 2026 Award Winners:

  • Best Presentation Award to Kyley Burkey for Investigation of hyaluronic acid-based hydrogel network formation for 3D in vitro modeling of knee meniscus, University of Washington
  • Best Poster Award to Luis Vega Lugo for Design of Hydroxyapatite Whisker Reinforced Polyetheretherketone Scaffolds for Bone In-Growth and Mechanical Integrity in Orthopedic Devices, University of Notre Dame.
  • STAR Student Awards to:
    • Jinyoung Park, Implantable Pressure Sensor with Biodegradability and Single-ended Configuration for Post-Surgical Joint Loading Monitoring, University of Connecticut.
    • Alan Zhao, Microfracture Clot-Penetrating Hyaluronic Acid Hydrogel Promotes Specific and Volumetric Cartilage Repair, Emory University.
