Calling all book authors!

BOOKSThe Society For Biomaterials is partnering with Elsevier on a book series entitled "Advanced Topics in Biomaterials."

We want to invite SFB Members to work together on an authored book or an edited book related to either a general topic or a focused topic related to your interests.

All book projects will have an Editorial Project Manager assigned to them; the EPM will provide day-to-day editorial support throughout development.

Books will be developed in our writing platform, Elsa, and we also have a full support team for Elsa available.

Projects will have a Copyrights Coordinator to assist with any permissions-related queries, a Payments Manager, and a full production service.

The Advanced Topics in Biomaterials series is a collaboration between Elsevier Inc. and the Society for Biomaterials. The series covers critical topics of interest to the biomaterials community, that reflect the latest advances in materials and related product, principles, design, and applications.

This series is largely inspired by the topics of interest addressed by the Society’s Special Interest Groups and themes highlighted in the Society’s annual meeting, including, but not limited to:

  • BioInterfaces
  • Biomaterials and Medical Products Commercialization
  • Biomaterial-Tissue Interaction
  • Cardiovascular Biomaterials
  • Dental/Craniofacial Biomaterials
  • Drug Delivery
  • Engineering Cells and Their Microenvironments
  • Immune Engineering
  • Nanomaterials
  • Ophthalmic Biomaterials
  • Orthopaedic Biomaterials
  • Surface Characterization and Modification
  • Tissue Engineering

Volumes in the series are written by global experts in the field, and provide brief introductory coverage of the chosen topic, before reviewing recent research and advances. Practical considerations of biomaterials are emphasized in volumes in the series, including methods and protocols, as well as the use of case studies to help demonstrate applications.

Please find the proposal form here.

Please contact SFB Executive Director, Dan Lemyre (dlemyre@biomaterials.org) or Series Editor, Roger Narayan (roger_narayan@unc.edu) if you have any questions about this invitation.
