2023 Student Officer Election Information - Bio and Vision Statement STE
2023 SFB National Student Chapter
Secretary/Treasurer-Elect Candidate
Arian Veyssi
The University of Texas at Austin
My name is Arian Veyssi, and I would like to apply for the position of Secretary/Treasurer-Elect. My school affiliation is the University of Texas at Austin. I have related experience as I have served as an officer for Women in Biomedical Engineering where I organized and marketed socials, professor talks, and corporate events. I have also served as a BME Undergraduate Advisory Board Representative, where I worked to get feedback from the students to drive changes in the BME department. Additionally, I have mentored first-year engineering women students as a Peer Assistant Leader and been a research ambassador for the Academy of Undergraduate Research across Texas in an effort to publicize UT Austin's research to the public. As a cumulation of my leadership and service experience, I have received the Outstanding Mentor Award from the Women in Engineering Program. I have also attached my CV to this email.
My vision is to serve as an effective representative for both the SFB chapter and student section. I plan to incorporate the perspective of the students to the student workshop and activities for the SFB annual meeting and also to the constitution and bylaws. I hope to encourage the development and integration of knowledge in biomaterials primarily among students, the University of Texas at Austin community, but also among other members of SFB.
